In spirit she is still with us.

A dear friend Randy gave us a knock out rose bush in memory of Sadie. Our 10 year old Bullmastiff who passed away in April of cancer. We planted the rose bush by the studio where Sadie use to like to lay in the sun and watch for people passing by. This morning Katie was sitting right next to the rose bush…..we all got teary eyed. Now it seems to be Katie’s favorite place also, Sadie your spirit lives on in Miss Katie.

Sadie, Sissy, Sweet Pea, so sweet you were.

If you follow my blog you know Sadie was diagnosed last summer with cancer. This past week I could see Sadie did not care for the joys in her life, it was becoming too much of an effort.  Once again we had to make a hard painful decision for Sadie. A friend told me the other day I know she loved you for making this decision.

I’ve been thinking of some of the dogs we’ve had and all the different personalities, Mitch was the caring one, Caine the royal one, Reggie was a true companion, Sport was loyal, and I could go on, but Sadie was the sweet one. One of her many nick names was Sweet Pea.

She was a Bullmastiff and a breeder told me once that anything over 8 years are bonus years with these big breeds. Well, we had wonderful bonus years with Miss Sadie, she was 10 last December.

Sissy you are missed, and we are thankful for all the wonderful memories.

Who’s your buddy?

We got Homer last summer when Sadie got diagnosed with cancer. We figured Homer and Henry would buddy up and the loss of Sadie would not be so hard on Henry. Well, that was our plans but as you can see Homer fell in love with Sadie, as we say she is his big Sissie.

Are you looking for me?

No better place to be on a cold, snowy winter day.

We’ve been waiting patiently!

But now it’s dog time!!

My Big Girl’s Birthday

Happy Birthday Sadie

Sadie was a rescue dog and has been with us for 8 of 10 years.  A bullmastiff breeder told me years ago that anything over 8 years are bonus years with big breed dogs. Well, we’ve had many wonderful years with Sadie. She was diagnosed with cancer in her hind leg last June and we really did not think she would be around for her 10th birthday, so each day is a bonus for us.

Dogs Just Wanna Have Fun

Crisp Autumn Morning

I know sometimes I complain about having to do our morning dog walks….all I want is a little quite time and have my coffee.  It’s hard to have quite time with 3 pups anxious for their walk.  Have to say this morning was an exceptional morning with the steam coming off the lake.  And now I can have that enjoyable cup of coffee….everyone is sleeping. :-)
